| GTC Gas
spring Technical Center |
Welcome to the GTC I
am glad you found us! I assume you are here because you
are interested in gas springs, or have an application for them.
This website was created to deliver as much technical information
about the proper application of gas springs as possible. If you
have an application you need help with just email me and I will
be happy to assist you in selecting the proper springs and mounting
points. If you want to be able to design gas springs into
applications yourself, I can help you with that as well.
The links above will take you into
different areas of the site. I have developed a spreadsheet
which will simulate how a gas spring will perform in a specific
application, and we will get into some pretty technical discussion
about how it is used. I have also made up a couple of other
spreadsheets for specific circumstances. I have included
detailed directions on the use of these spreadsheets, as well as fully
illustrated walkthrough's for the more complicated ones. You can
download these
spreadsheets under the Downloads link above.
You can also follow the link to find out a bit
more about me and why I created this site. You can find some photos of applications I have done as well as descriptions under the application studies link. I hope to add some additional applications that I
can post on the site and
discuss, maybe you can help me with that.
The application tips
link will take you through a typical application. I walkthrough
an application, from beginning to end. I start out with a rough
drawing and discuss the information I will have to have, and go step by
step through the process of designing a gas spring into the application
using Gassim, the spreadsheet I created to model gas spring applications.
I am not a website
designer, so this will not be the brightest or flashiest site you have
ever visited, just be patient with me and email me with any comments or
suggestions. My hope is that the lack of "flash" and
animations on this site will be more than made up for with the
increased speed of my simple design, and all the great technical
information you can find here about gas springs.
